09/03/2010 Paralymic Winter Athletes with Support from Pressalit

The Paralympic Winter Games will be held in Vancouver, Canada from March 12th to 21st. Here two Danish athletes can be seen in action – they represent experience and new talent respectively, and there are great expectations to the two athletes. “It is not a big team that Denmark presents, but it is a team that we can vouch for”, says Michael Møllgaard Nielsen, Elite Sports Director of DHIF.

The Danish team
Visually impaired Anna-Mette Bredahl, who has been a paralympian since 1992 and previously won several paralympic medals, will compete in cross-country skiing and biathlon together with her guide, Monica Berglund from Norway. There are great expectations to the couple, and they hope to be within the top five ranking.

Marianne Maibøl, who is a wheelchair user, is new to the Paralympics. She will compete in sitting cross-country skiing (also called sit skiing) where she will be competing in the 5 and 10 km competitions and 1 km sprint. Till now, she has delivered impressive results, and she hopes to rank maximum 25 percent after the time of the winner. She expresses her strong feelings: “I have really trained hard to qualify for the Paralympics, so it is a dream coming true that I have been selected ”. Marianne Maibøll has taken leave of absence from her work to train full time.

Pressalit supports and participates
Through its agelong sponsorship with DHIF, Pressalit Group has helped send the Danish athletes to Vancouver, and we are proud to be present and cheer for the red and white colours. A small Pressalit delegation will be present during the Games in Vancouver where Pressalit Care’s American and Canadian distributors also have been invited to join as our guests.

Best of luck to our Danish athletes during the Paralympic Winter Games 2010.
